Cheerleading Apparel Checklist for Competition Season - Nfinity™ Cheer

Cheerleading Apparel Checklist for Competition Season

Table of Contents

A winning cheerleading competition checklist should be divided into basic uniform essentials, warm-up layers and an emergency apparel repair kit. Staying organized ensures smooth transitions from team check in to the warm up mat.

This checklist helps you pack everything you need. Use this list before every competition.

Uniform and Performance Wear

Start with the main uniform pieces. These are required.

  • Your competition top or shell.

  • Your competition skirt or crop top.

  • Your team approved briefs.

  • Your cheer shoes. Clean them well. Do not wear them outside before competition.

  • Your performance socks.

  • Your body liner or crop top if your uniform requires it.

Warm Up and Travel Apparel

  • You need layers to stay warm before you perform. Cold muscles do not stunt well.

  • Your team warmup jacket and pants. Wear these during staging to keep your body loose.

  • Your team t-shirt or tank top. Wear this while doing hair and makeup.

  • Leggings or sweatpants. Change into these after you perform. They keep your uniform clean for awards.

Hair and Makeup Kit

  • Pack a small bag just for hair and makeup. Call it your survival bag.

  • Hair ties. Bobby pins. A brush or comb. Bring extras of everything.

  • Strong hold hairspray. The strongest you can find. It keeps flyaways slicked down.

  • Your team approved makeup.

What to Eat on Competition Day

  • Eat a light breakfast. Oatmeal works. Eggs work. Toast works.

  • Avoid heavy or greasy food.

  • Eat a small snack one hour before you perform.

Team Packing Tips

Coaches should share this checklist with the whole squad. Packing together helps everyone remember.

  • One person should bring extra briefs in different sizes.

  • One person should bring a sewing kit.

  • One person should bring a first aid kit.

  • Before you leave home try on your full uniform. Walk in it. Jump in it. Stunt in it. Make sure nothing moves.

  • Check that your shoes are clean and tied properly.

  • Charge your phone and any team speaker.

How to Fix Common Problems

If your skirt rides up use body tape or switch to a different cut.

If your bra strap shows, use fashion tape or a racerback converter.

If your shoes are scuffed, clean them with a magic eraser or shoe wipes.

If your bow is loose use extra pins.
